Pizza Chef (Wood-Fired)
Stretching, topping and firing pizzas for The Welsh Italian Pizza Co. and Pizza Van Wales.
Apply for This RoleThe Job
Pizza is the busiest part of what we do. On a typical day you prep the dough and toppings, bring the oven up to heat, and then turn out pizzas steadily through service, whether that is a wedding breakfast or a long queue at a festival.
You work alongside an assistant on the counter and a team leader running the event. If you have cooked in a busy kitchen but never on a wood-fired oven, apply anyway and tell us about it.
What You Will Do
- Preparing dough, sauce and toppings ahead of service
- Lighting and managing the oven so it holds its heat all the way through service
- Stretching, topping and cooking pizzas to a consistent standard, at pace
- Following our allergen procedures on every order
- Cleaning down the oven area and kit at the end of the night
What You Need
- Experience cooking in a busy kitchen, pizzeria or food truck
- To be 16 or over, with the right to work in the UK
- To be comfortable working at pace, outdoors, next to a very hot oven
Good to Have
- Wood-fired or pizza oven experience
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (if you do not have one, we pay for it)
- A driving licence
How the Work Runs
- Pay: £15 an hour.
- Casual work: you choose which events you take on.
- Mostly weekends, busiest from April to October.
- Some shifts start from our base in Tonypandy and some at the venue. We tell you where and when for each one.
- We pay for your Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate if you do not already have one.

It takes about five minutes. A CV helps, but you do not need one.
